Hallmark Group are proud to be New Zealand’s only fully-integrated veneer manufacturer. We manufacture predominantly from New Zealand native timber resources, all FSC approved and/or sustainably harvested.

Leaf

Veneer leaf is manufactured by Hallmark Group at their factory base in Rangiora, Canterbury. Leaf is then either further processed into layons or panels or is on-sold to other veneer processors in both New Zealand and Australia. The thicknesses sliced range from 0.6mm (predominantly thick New Zealand indigenous species) up to 1.5mm for special applications.

Lay-ons

Hallmark Group Ltd manufacture veneer layons for their own production and for panel overlayers. Veneer leaf is joined in a series of pairs which are in turn joined into larger pairs until the required width of layon is created. It is then dried and conditioned and processed into layons which are predominantly book-matched, ensuring consistency to specific customer requirements.

Panel

Layons are pressed onto to a MDF, particle board or a plywood substrate in a hot press. Veneered panels are then left to cure and then sanded to a fine finish. Panels are normally further processed by the joiner with veneer or solid timber edgings.
